Volcano Village (4,000'), the nearest town to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, is home to the Volcano Art Center's Niaulani Campus. Located in the Puna district of East Hawai'i, just off Highway 11 (between mile markers 26 & 28), Volcano is approximately 30 miles from Hilo (about a 45 minute drive) and 100 miles from Kailua-Kona (about a 2 1/2 hour drive). This small, friendly village, nestled in the rainforest, welcomes visitors year-round. Volcano's weather can be variable, from clear and warm to cool and rainy. Dressing in layers and being prepared for rain is always a good idea. Average yearly rainfall varies between 100" and 125" with temperatures usually between 50 to 75 degrees.
