Greg has lived in Ocean View, Hawaii since 2004. He moved here from California where he first started a gift line of wind chimes in the late 1970s. In the 1980s, he opened his first art gallery in Ramona, California, introducing his work, as well as the work of many artists from Los Angeles to San Diego, to the art buyers in his community. A self taught potter, he credits Paul Soldner as one of his biggest influences. He is currently working with the raku firing method, first hand building vessels and large pots, or throwing coffee cups and wind chimes. He enjoys mixing his own glazes, but uses tried and true ones as well. Greg and his wife, Gail have an organic lettuce and produce farm. They work with an organization called WWoof, where they host young adults at their farm to learn small scale farming techniques. His greens are featured at resturants in Volcano Village and Hilo. "My goals for my work are to keep enjoying the process and keep learning and helping others to learn by teaching classes and having demonstrations of firing and hand building. |
