Bonnie spent her early years growing up in Puna, Hawaii, "outdoors, lost in nature or in my room drawing on sketch pads."
She graduated from a five year dual program with Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1998. "I am the sole creator of each of my oil paintings. All my paintings are my renditions of actual places or interpretations of natural forms. I paint from photographs which either I or my husband have taken. I apply the paint in thin layers until the desired color saturation is achieved. I enjoy using dramatic color, rich and at times intense. Color harmonies and contrasts push the visual play of light and space in my work. I am awe inspired by nature and am fascinated by naturally occ-urring patterns. I aim to portray the simple yet complex beauty that surrounds us. I hope my pieces spurn an association with a moment and or place and that they remind the viewer to not only look, but to truly See." |
